I just received word that a man I interned for - not three months ago - has passed away.
Terry Armour, co-host of "The Stan and Terry Show" on the former WCKG, and entertainment columnist for the Chicago Tribune fell ill while writing a column, and was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead from a heart attack.
My thoughts and prayers are with Stan, Bonnie, and his wife LaNell.
He will be greatly missed. I will never forget him.

Innappropriate! (Part 2: The Reckoning)
Oh, yeah, and speaking of in-friggin-appropriate! I am driving to work today, and I pass (sh*t you not) two people on the side of the road - one dressed as an elf, the other dressed as Santa Clause.
They were holding up signs about 50% off something somewhere - I couldn't read it because I was blinded by rage.
It's friggin' September! Christmas is a quarter-of-a-year away.

Innappropriate!
On Sunday, September 9th, MTV hosted their 23rd annual Video Music Awards - which, at the risk of being Captain Obvious, is pure irony, as the cable network doesn't air music videos anymore. In an article from the Chicago Sun Times written by Jim DeRogatis, there is a sentence that sums it up, comparing MTV to the show's opening act, Britney Spears:
"La Brit is, of course, as desperate to prove she's still relevant as MTV itself, since she now garners much more attention for her embarrassing public exploits than her mediocre music."
Oh, yes... Britney Spears was supposed to make the comeback of a lifetime at the VMAs, performing her new song while wearing lingerie and being pawed by her back-up dancers. Instead, Spears managed to maintain the expression of a deer caught in headlights, lose the choreography, and at one point, stop lip-synching all together because she forgot the words.
It was sad, really. Very sad. This is a woman who has lost her childhood, her husband, her children, and her career... and millions of people around the world watched it happen from their televisions and the tabloids.
That's all I can really say about the performance. I hear so many people talking about how "fat" she looked. To that, I say this; yes, we are very used to seeing a tight, toned, sculpted Britney Spears, but I think she looks so much better with a little meat on her bones. Besides, lets remember that Spears had two children - and very recently. However, if she really wanted to make a strong return, and put all of those trailer-trash jokes behind her, she really should have worn something that didn't suggest "total wh*r*." If you're trying to reinvent yourself, you change the entire package, not just adding a few ::*gasp*:: swear words in your songs to be "edgier".
Sarah Silverman took the stage following Spears' performance and said, "Twenty-five years old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life." Some people have said that it was inappropriate for her to call Spears out on the night of her comeback, but if there can be anything said about Silverman's humor is that it's ALWAYS inappropriate.
Inappropriate. Like Britney's outfit. Like MTV having "video/music" awards.
